The Ridge Casino is making the most of Mandela Day
eMalahleni’s favourite entertainment destination, The Ridge Casino (https://www.tsogosun.com/the-ridge-casino), went all out this Mandela Day. In total the team served 518 children and pensioners in various ways.
Pensioners get spoilt at BillyG’s
On Thursday, 18 July 25 pensioners were treated to a wholesome meal at Billy G Buffet Restaurant. Not only did these very special guests enjoy a delicious buffet lunch, they were also given some practical gifts to help them get through the cold winter months. The gifts included blankets, portable gas stoves, jerseys, scarves and gloves. They also received toiletries, as well as various food and cleaning items. Marketing Manager of The Ridge Casino, Marina Coetzee said, “We wanted to assist in making these pensioners’ lives easier – particularly because of the electricity and water crisis in eMalahleni. We also wanted to treat them to a wholesome, warm meal within the luxury of a restaurant setting. All in honour of our late, beloved Nelson Mandela.”
Mandela Day at Thushang
Mandela Day at Thushang was equally as special. A team of only six volunteers from The Ridge served 287 underprivileged children from Ackerville, Thushanang, kwa-guqa and Lynville by painting the inside walls of the centre to make it more child-friendly. The team drew and painted animals, insects, trees, letters of the alphabet and various shapes in bright, beautiful colours. The team also brought with them groceries such as fruit, vegetables, maize meal and tea to the value of over R6 000. As a special treat they prepared hotdogs for the children and ended the day by entertaining them with singing and dancing.
Mandela Day at Phidisa NPO
A team of four volunteers also supported the Phidisa NPO in response to a plea from a loyal Black Rewards cardholder – Melody Kweba. The Ridge team gave up of their time to assist with this Mandela Day event that included various other corporate sponsors. This special day was arranged for 200 underprivileged pensioners from Ackerville, Thushanang, Kwa-guqa and Lynville. The team sponsored 100 hygiene packs containing Vaseline, face cloths, bar soaps, roll-on deodorants and toothpastes to the value of over R6 000. The special guests were extremely grateful for all the effort that went into making the day special for them.
