  1. Only persons over the age of 18 may participate. Any person who is currently refused entry to the casino or who is self-excluded prior to or during the tournament may not participate and will be disqualified
  2. There will be a minimum buy-in of R1 100 to a maximum of R11 000 buy-in to participate in the tournament
  3. This tournament will be open to both Rewards cardholders and the general public
  4. By participating in a tournament, the player agrees to abide by the rules and behave in a courteous manner. A violator will be verbally warned or suspended from play for a specified length of time, or disqualified from the tournament based on the tournament director’s decision. Tournament cash from a disqualified participant will be removed from play. Players, whether in the hand or not, may not discuss the hands until the action is complete. Players are obligated to protect the other players in the tournament at all times. Discussing cards discarded or hand possibilities are not allowed. A penalty will be given for discussion of hands during the play.
  5. Tournament participation will be based on the highest scores earned on in the preliminary/qualifying rounds in the promotion period
  6. Players play for themselves, monies may not be pooled or transferred to other players.
  7. Tournament cash “winnings” from one tournament round will not be carried over to another tournament round. All tournament cash must be returned to the respective table float at the end of each heat/round.
  8. The Master of Ceremonies, at the finals, will announce the start of each tournament round. Participants who are not present at the actual start of the respective tournament rounds will forfeit their seats.
  9. In the event that a participant cannot conclude on the day of the tournament, the allocated seat will be forfeited and may not be replaced by another participant.
  10. Designated and demarcated operational tables and/or tournament tables will be utilised for the tournament. Participants do not earn Rewards Programme points during tournament play.
  11. Participants’ tournament cash must be maintained in a visible manner on the table concerned at all times during the tournament.
  12. Conversing with spectators will be cause for disqualification. Spectators who interfere with the game or provide assistance to the players will be cause for eviction. Players are not allowed to discuss strategies with other players, dealers or casino personnel. Players are not allowed to borrow, lend or give their tournament cash to another player.
  13. Whilst every reasonable effort will be taken to ensure the accurate recording of rankings/scores, the onus shall remain with participants to ensure that their rankings/scores are correct at all times. The casino reserves the right to make the necessary corrections as soon as it becomes aware of any founded discrepancies, which corrections could change the rankings/scores of participants and allocation of prizes.
  14. The Ridge Casino reserves the right to change or amend the tournament structure and/or prize package at any time.
  15. The Tournament Director’s decision (or a Management Representative thereof) will be deemed as final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  16. All finalists are required to be present on the respective dates/times to be eligible to participate in the tournament.
  17. Finalists shall be required to present themselves on the day of the tournament and must produce a valid entry and positive and acceptable form of identification e.g. a South African I.D./South African Driver’s License/Passport or other official form of identification as approved by the casino and any other details as required, if not our GMS will be used to verify participants.
  18. A Finalist will forfeit their position or play on the day of the finals should they be absent or arrive after the cut off time. The casino shall take all reasonable steps to contact all participants via the contact details provided or otherwise readily available on the Gaming Management System.
  19. Collectively the tournament prize money will be determined by the amount of buy-ins
  20. The initial seating of the players will be determined by way of a random draw or assignment
  21. A change of seat is not allowed after play starts, except as assigned by the tournament director
  22. The appropriate starting amount of tournament cash will be placed on the table for each paid entrant at the beginning of the tournament, whether the person/player is present or not
  23. If a paid entrant is absent at the start of the tournament the tournament cash will be left in place until arrival. If the player does not show the player will be blinded out
  24. A no-show or absent player will always be dealt a hand. That player’s stack will post blinds and antes
  25. In all tournament games using a dealer button, the starting position of the button is determined by the players drawing for the high card
  26. Limits and blinds will be raised at regularly scheduled intervals
  27. If there is a signal designating the end of a betting level, the new limits apply on the next deal (which means the deal will begin with the first riffle of the shuffle).
  28. The lowest denomination of tournament cash in play will be removed from the table when it is no longer needed in the blind or ante structure. All lower denomination tournament cash that is of sufficient quantity for a new denomination will be changed directly. All odd denominations will be changed to the new lowest denomination still in play
  29. A player must be present at the table to stop the action by calling “time”
  30. A player must be at the table by the time all players have their complete starting hands in order to have a live hand for that deal. (The dealer’s instruction is to kill the hands of all absent players immediately after dealing each player a starting hand).
  31. As players are eliminated, tables are broken in a pre-set order, with players from the broken tables assigned to empty seats at other tables.
  32. In button games, if a player is needed to move from a table to balance tables, the player due for the big blind will be automatically selected to move, and will be given the earliest seat due for the big blind if more than one seat is open.
  33. New players to a table as a result of balancing tables are dealt in immediately unless they are in the small blind or button position, where they must wait until the button has passed to the player on their left.
  34. The number of players at each table will be kept reasonably balanced by the transfer of a player as needed.
  35. In all events, there is a redraw for seating when the field is reduced to one table.
  36. If a player lacks sufficient tournament cash for a blind or a forced bet, the player is entitled to get action on whatever amount of money is left in his stack. A player who posts a short blind and wins does not need to make up the blind.
  37. A player who declares all in and loses the pot, then discovers that tournament cash was hidden, is not entitled to benefit from this. That player is eliminated from the tournament if the opponent had sufficient tournament cash to cover the hidden ones (A re-buy is okay if allowable by the tournament director). If another deal has not yet started, the director may rule the tournament cash belongs to the opponent who won that pot, if that obviously would have happened with the tournament cash out in plain view. If the next deal has started, the discovered tournament cash will be removed from the tournament
  38. All players must leave their seat immediately after being eliminated from the tournament
  39. Showing cards from a live hand during the action injures (compromises) the rights of other players who are still competing in the tournament, who wish to see contestants eliminated. A player in a multi-handed pot may not show any cards during a deal. Heads-up, a player may not show any cards unless the tournament has only two remaining players, or in the case where the winner-takes-all all. If a player deliberately shows a card, the player will be penalized (but his hand will not be ruled dead). Verbally stating one’s hand during the play will be penalized.
  40. Non-tournament cash is not allowed on the table
  41. Higher-denomination tournament cash must be placed where they are easily visible to all other players
  42. All tournament cash must remain visible on the table throughout the event. Tournament cash taken off the table will be removed from the tournament, and a player doing this will be disqualified.
  43. Inappropriate behaviour like throwing cards that go off the table will be punished with a penalty such as being dealt out for a length of time or number of hands. A severe infraction such as abusive or disruptive behaviour will be punished by eviction from the tournament by the tournament director.
  44. The decks are changed only at the start of a new days play or if cards are damaged
  45. The dealer button remains in position until the appropriate blinds are taken. Players must post all blinds every round. Because of this, last action may be given to the same player for two consecutive hands by the use of a “dead button.”
  46. In heads-up play with two blinds, the small blind is on the button. When play becomes heads-up, the player who had the big blind the most recently is given the button, and his opponent is given the big blind.
  47. If a player is knocked out within the re-buy period by losing all their tournament cash, the player may buy back, provided they have cash in hand.
  48. All hands will be turned face up whenever a player is all-in and betting action is complete.
  49. If multiple players go broke on the same hand, the player starting the hand with the larger amount of tournament cash finishes in the higher place for prize money and any other award. Players eliminated on the same deal who start their final hand with an equal amount of tournament cash receive equal prize money, with the best hand on that deal receiving any non-divisible award.
  50. Management is not required to rule on any private deals, side bets, or redistribution of the prize pool among finalists.
  51. Private agreements by remaining players in an event regarding the distribution of the prize pool are not condoned-(However, if such an agreement is made, the director has the option of ensuring that it is carried out by paying those amounts.) Any private agreement that does not include one or more active competitors is improper by definition.
  52. A tournament event is expected to be played until completion. A private agreement that removes all prize money from being at stake in the competition is unethical and will not be tolerated by the tournament director.
  53. The tournament director retains the right to cancel any event or alter it in a manner fair to the players.
  54. Cash Prizes are to be collected and signed for the receipt thereof by the relevant Prize Winner (not representative), as the case may be, within 15 days from the date of the tournament finals from the casino where the prize(s) were won
  55. Prizes are not transferrable and cannot be exchanged for cash unless otherwise advertised. Prize winners must sign for receipt of prizes
  56. All decisions are final and binding and no correspondence or appeals will be entered into.
  57. Any person transgressing the rules of this tournament will be disqualified
  58. Every participant in the tournament shall be deemed to have acknowledged and accepted the rules by virtue of their participation
  59. The above clauses are severable from each other. Should any clause or part thereof be found to be unenforceable by operation of the law, such clause or part thereof will be severed, and the remaining clauses shall remain in force
